The Dark Money Hypocrisy

The Working Families Party acts like it’s a group of dedicated activists who fight against dark money in our politics.

The reality is that the Working Families Party is funded by groups with ties to Silicon Valley tech bros, a vast network of non-profit funders, pass-through organizations, and untraceable funds.

The hypocrisy is astounding: as they attack some Democratic candidates for receiving support from outside groups, they facilitate and fund it for candidates they like.

How They Work

The Working Families Party's Outrage Machine

When an outside group spends money on a candidate that the WFP doesn’t support, their playbook is clear: call press conferences, send mass texts to voters, and do anything they can to gin up outrage that independent expenditures are being made.

But when they or their allies spend vast sums of undisclosed money on a candidate they like, it’s fine.

The reality is that it’s not about the money or who is spending it. It’s them trying to delegitimize Democratic candidates who refuse to buy-in to their outrage or their purity tests.
